Coelho Middle School Hosted Student-Faculty Basketball Game in Honor of Olivia Knighton

The Coelho Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), in collaboration with the Coelho Physical Education Leaders and advisors Mr. Rob McEvoy and Mrs. Rebecca Hindle, co-hosted a student versus faculty and staff basketball game at the Attleboro High School gym on March 12th.

Games were held between different grade levels, with the night's main event being between the eighth-grade team and the Coelho Middle School faculty.

Over 500 people attended and raised more than $6,500 through raffle items, ticket sales, and food concessions. The proceeds are going to support the PE Leaders, as well as a donation to the Olivia Knighton Foundation in her name.

The event honored Olivia Knighton, a Coelho Middle School student who tragically passed away last summer. Faculty members wore teal shirts with Olivia’s initials on the back to honor her.

Her parents, Brad and Britney Knighton, were in attendance alongside her brothers Owen and Brooks, who kicked off the event with the opening ceremony tip-off.

One of the raffle items of the evening was a gift card for the parent who sank the half-court shot. The winner was Brad Knighton, who posted a video on his Instagram of the crowd erupting as he made the shot.
