Last Friday all SC members and officers spent an hour with Elisa Peyvan from our local LLS office. By asking so many questions and having a discussion with her. We all learned so much about why we do this project.
Some things we learned-
-Leukemia and the related blood cancers are the number 1 cancer in children
- in 1949 the survival rate was 5%. In 2019 the survival rate is 90% !!!!!
-the money we raise is used mostly for research but also for education and family support and travel expenses
-LLS supports research worldwide
- some types of treatment are chemo, radiation, stem cell, bone marrow transplant, and new and exciting is immunotherapy because it only attacks the cancer cells

Donations can be made in school with coins or cash, or checks to LLS
Donations can be made online by visiting the LLS page using school name Robert J Coelho.
